SteelSeries was founded about ten years ago by the Danish businessman Jacob Wolff-Petersen, who was a gamer himself. He realized there was a market gap for gamer gear and started from selling mouse pads in 2001. He collaborated with esports pros to design more gaming peripherals. By 2006, SteelSeries products were used by 7 out of the top 10 FPS esports teams. Now he runs a successful enterprise that brings $50m of yearly revenue. The company was the first to release a wireless gaming headset that uses USB-C.
