Lenovo is purchasing Motorola Mobility from Google for $2.9 billion. The famous mobile phone maker Motorola still has the third position on the Android market in the USA and Latin America. Most importantly, the company possesses several thousand patents. The chairman of Lenovo, Yang Yuanqing, has assured the public that the company has a proven record of successfully embracing and strengthening world brands, such as IBM’s ThinkPad, and will properly handle its new assets. Motorola will soon become the major player in the world’s Android devices market. The whole deal doesn’t include Motorola’s research team, run by ex-president of DARPA, Regina Dugan.
