About Tianjin

How to get to Tianjin?

  1. By plane

In Tianjin’s Dongli District, Tianjin Binhai International Airport is located. It operates as one of the main cargo airports in China. It has international flights, mainly from South Korea and Japan, as well as domestic flights. The subway connects the airport with downtown, the cost of the journey is 3 RMB.

From 2019, the largest airport in the world, Beijing-Daxing, operates to relieve traffic of other Beijing airports. To get to Tianjin, you need to take the bus, taxi or train. The journey will take from an hour and a half to two and a half, depending on the chosen means of transport. A journey by taxi costs 360 RMB, by train and subway – 112 RMB, by bus – 75 RMB.

The journey by bus from the center of Beijing to Tianjin takes about two hours and costs within 25 RMB.

Tianjin is a significant railway junction. Numerous rail lines allow access to Tianjin from Beijing, Shanghai, Harbin, Nanjing, and many other major cities. The journey by bullet train from Beijing to Tianjin takes about half an hour, and the ticket depending on the class cost 30-240 RMB. The high-speed train stops at a station in Wuqing District.

How to get around Tianjin?

Tianjin is one of the few cities in China that has tram lines with running modern vehicles. Trams operate every 3 minutes between 5:30 AM and 12 PM. The cost of a one-way trip is 2 RMB.

This city is the second in China after Beijing that has a metro system, a total of six lines. More lines are under construction. Depending on the length of the route, the ticket fare ranges between 2 and 5 RMB.

There may be problems in communication with taxi drivers, so we recommend to prepare information about the destination in Chinese characters. Fare starts at 8 RMB for the first 3 kilometers and then 1.7 RMB for each kilometer.

Moreover, in 1904, in Tianjin, the first city bus line in China started operating. The cost of a bus ticket is a minimum of 1 RMB.
